The Punjabi language has been taught at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara for several years. In April 1997 a consultation exercises carried out amoungst parents revealed a preference for formalised and structured learning of the

of the Punjabi language, preferable taught at weekends. Interest was also expressed in the teaching of the Sikh Religion.

The Punjabi School opened May 1997, under the banner Sikh Youth 2000, with classes in:

  1. Punjabi language (pre-basic, basic, intermediate, GCSE and A Level)
  2. Music (Harmonium & Tabla)
